A Warm Welcome from James Pitt-Payne

James Pitt-PayneGreetings and welcome to my midi music website.

If you wish to get the best out of my Midi songs I personally use Vanbasco for the PC which I highly recommend!

If you are using an Apple Mac computer to play my midi files, you might like to try Qmidi which can be downloaded from here Anyway, enjoy the site.

On these pages are some 8,539 different midi and 6,161 different kar files. My favourites are Victor Herbert, Reginald de Koven, Noel Coward, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and dear Ivor Novello, of course, but there are many more.

Whilst music was the original aim of this site, I quickly found that my penchant for all things amusing could be satisfied here. This is a good place for after dinner speakers to 'surf' and those with a medical turn of mind will not be disappointed.

Love James Pitt-Payne

Finding duplicates, renaming files, and adding tags
Written by Robert Heuman

James has packaged his files as zip collections. There are duplicates in these due to differences in naming and due to the same file being in a year and in a composer collection, as simple examples. In the year 2000 kar and mid zips, there are 68 duplicates when I did a search for them using a duplicate finding program. So if you plan to convert these tunes to mp3, ogg or wma files, you likely should eliminate the duplicates first, so that you save on the conversion effort and computer time. Having converted them, you likely want to inject tags inside them so that your player provides you with better information on what is playing. How to do these things follows:

Converting midi files to a format for a portable player
Written by Robert Heuman

Since most portable players do NOT have great sound systems, one needs to produce a good sounding audio file. The choices seem to be limited, in the main, to mp3, ogg and wma. The latter two at 96 bit are about the same in sound quality as mp3 at 128 bit, so you save space by using either ogg or wma when your player will work with one of those choices.
